Vojin Bakić: The Principle of Hope

The exhibition Vojin Bakić: The Principle of Hope opens on 29 January 2026 at the newly renovated Bjelovar City Museum and will run until 18 April. This marks the first comprehensive presentation of Bakić’s life and work in his hometown since 1966, through which the Museum reaffirms its strategic commitment to the legacy of one of the most significant Croatian artists of the 20th century. The exhibition is curated by anthropologist and researcher Hana Ćurak, who developed the concept in dialogue with the curatorial collective What, How & for Whom / WHW (Ivet Ćurlin, Nataša Ilić and Sabina Sabolović). The exhibition design is by architects Ana Martina Bakić and Vjera Bakić, custodians of the artist’s legacy.

The exhibition is realised in partnership between the City of Bjelovar and the Bjelovar City Museum, with the support of numerous institutional and individual partners. The honorary patrons of the exhibition are the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sport of the Republic of Croatia.
