The Bjelovar Gymnasium

Through historical sources, documents, photographs and museum objects, the exhibition provides an overview of the development of the Gymnasium and reminds us of its place in the educational, cultural and social life of Bjelovar. From the first gymnasium grades and the time when classes were held in significantly different circumstances, through the construction of the gymnasium building at the beginning of the 20th century, and all the way to the modern era, the exhibition follows the school that has educated numerous generations of Bjelovar residents over the decades.

The special value of the exhibition lies in the traces of the people who created the history of the Gymnasium – its students, professors and principals. The preserved records and photographs speak not only about teaching and school life, but also about the time in which they were created, the development of the city and the changes that shaped the lives of its residents.
