Music - Sounds through the centuries

One of the fundamental research goals of the Music Department is civic, civil musical life during the 19th century in Bjelovar.

Music is an art whose existence can be traced in Bjelovar almost from the very foundation of the city, thanks to the military music that was part of the 16th infantry regiment, whose headquarters were in the town itself.

The musicals of the Bjelovar Music Society are stored in the museum library, and part of the collection is represented by printed and handwritten scores arranged by Bjelovar's band members.

This is how we learn the names of conductors and composers connected to Bjelovar by life and work, such as Josip Bis, Antonin Motala, and Ivan Barešić.
